The City of Fendale has declared the Kulick Community Center at 1201 Livernois as a “Cooling Center.”
When a “Heat Advisory” or “Action Ozone Day” has been declared, Ferndale residents may come to the Community Center to cool off.
The Cooling Center hours will be Monday through Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Participants will have access to specific rooms at the Center. Tables and chairs, board games and TV will be available for use. Lunch is served from 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. for $3 for individuals 55 years and older. All others are $6.
If there are two streets in Detroit an outsider can name, they’re likely to be Woodward Ave and Eight Mile Road. Woodward from the olden days (think baby boomers and Dream cruisers), and Eight Mile from that rapper fella… We could hardly wait to get there. Even if it was daylight. Despite the rainy weather families turned out to Martin Road Park on April 9, 2011 for the Ferndale Recreation’s Annual Eggstravaganza. Youngsters were divided into age-appropriate groups and let loose on a park full of candy-filled plastic eggs.
Eleven Ferndale Wrestling Club athletes traveled to Battle Creek March 25-27, 2011 to compete in the Michigan Youth Wrestling Association State Championships. The club is for boys aged 4-16 from Ferndale and surrounding cities, with 45 kids on the team this year.
