The request for injunction was filed by Ferndale Public Schools, Kalamazoo Public Schools, Lansing School District and Middle Cities Education Association. A broad coalition of other organizations filed in support of the injunction, including: the American Federation of Teachers – Michigan, Macomb Intermediate School District, the Michigan Association of School Boards, and the Michigan Education Association.

Board Vice President Keith Warnick and Deputy Superintendent Henry Gold attended the National School Boards Association Federal Relations Network Conference in Washington D. C. The conference provides school districts with information regarding education related legislation, so they may effectively lobby elected representatives during the conference, as well throughout the year.
The Ferndale High School Musical Boosters presents its annual musical, Oklahoma!, this month. The show opens Saturday, March 12 at 7:30 pm at the Ferndale High School Auditorium, 881 Pinecrest, Ferndale MI. All ages are welcome.
This week, as the result of a subsequent confrontation between these students, the 18-year-old gave more statements to school officials concerning the day he stole the glasses. He said that after he took the glasses (with another friend), they ran out of the school and down the street. The sixteen-year-old chased after them, then used a gun to fire shots.

Spring is in the air and Ferndale Recreation is ready to launch one of it’s most popular team activities, soccer! The Little Kickers league is for toddlers through three years old. Then there are teams for Under 6, Under 8, and Under 10. The coaches and referees are volunteers, mainly parents.
Ferndale Schools host an annual breakfast for realtors and members of the business community. This year, the district partnered with the Ferndale Area Chamber of Commerce to co-host the event and welcomed the largest number of guests, more than 60, in attendance since the event began nearly a decade ago.
Admission for the event is $10 cover charge at the door. All funds raised at the event (admission and silent auction) will benefit Broadway Cares Equity Fights AIDS and Ferndale’s John F Kennedy Elementary School PTA.

The food revolution is on in Ferndale Schools. When Coolidge and JFK Schools got slushees in the cafeteria last week, few knew that the ever-changing sweet treat is really made from 100% fruit. The Ferndale Schools Fine Arts Boosters is gearing up for their second annual fundraising variety show, which they call “A Night of FABulous” entertainment. Performers of all kinds will be there, many whom are Ferndale Schools students, parents and alumni. This is the second annual FABulous show, creating a tradition of raising money to help students excel in the arts and music while also showcasing the talent in our community.
A new mentorship program was launched during this past month for Ferndale Schools orchestra students.
We went to a Ferndale Public Schools Meet and Greet today, and we were so happy that we went.
