It appears that none of the vehicles targeted were locked. The thief (thieves) merely opened unlocked doors and stole loose items from inside the cars.
There are no suspects at this time.

A regular reminder: People should not leave their parked vehicles left unlocked. Most often, thieves pass by locked vehicles and steal only from vehicles with easy access.
On 2/13/12 at 0052 hours a Ferndale Officer was patrolling west on W Eight Mile passing Laprairie when he saw a black Jeep Liberty approaching Eight Mile. He slowed and pulled to the curb just west of Laprairie. The driver of the Jeep drove over the center median and fled east on Eight Mile and south on Woodward where the officer caught up to the car. In less than a month, Huntington Bank at 306 W. 9 Mile was robbed for the second time yesterday. The robbery occurred at about 4:40 p.m. when the same person who robbed the bank on January 13th presented a teller with a note demanding money. The teller gave the man some cash and he left through the back door into the Withington parking lot.
The report for the weekend is that Ferndale was generally quiet, but for more drunk driving arrests than usual. From the early morning hours of Saturday morning until 12:55 this morning, Ferndale Police arrested 8 people for drunk driving. Two of the arrests were for Felony Drunk driving. Both felony arrestees had extremely high blood alcohol levels and extensive driving records.
The teller gave the thief cash and he fled out of the back door and ran north through the parking lot.
The suspect may have been involved in other robberies. He should be considered armed and dangerous. Anybody with information should contact the Ferndale Police at 248-546-2396
Shortly after the chase ended, a Hazel Park officer saw the pick-up at a gas station in Hazel Park; it was now driven by a woman. Officers approached her and she told them it was her husband who fled from the police.
Officers went to Jones’ home and arrested him
Ofcs. met with the caller who explained what he heard and the approximate area where he heard it. While searching the area, an officer heard the sound of someone moving on the roof of 504 Livernois (Ken’s Market)
Investigation revealed that two of the three crimes did not happen as they were reported. One person was arrested for the two robberies. It turned out that the victims were not robbed, but were scammed out of money while attempting to purchase marijuana from the suspect.

In the early morning hours on Sunday, 08/21/11, Ferndale Police responded to William Beaumont Hospital to meet with a man who was the victim of an armed robbery that occurred on Paxton / 9 Mile near the Credit Union 1.
On 07/18/2011 at approximately 12:30 a.m. Ferndale officers responded to 1040 W 9 Mile (711) for an armed robbery. A man armed with a handgun entered the store and then victimized two women. When the clerk tried to run, he struck the her in the head with his gun. This knocked her to the ground and disabled her. The robber then threatened a woman customer at gunpoint and stole her purse.
