Those with questions about the Occupy Movement will have a chance to talk with organizers from Occupy Detroit at the Thursday, December 15, 2011, Transition Ferndale Meeting, held at the Ferndale Public Library, 222 E. Nine Mile Road. The meeting starts at 7pm, and will also be a potluck, so attendees are encouraged to bring a dish to share. Jarret Schlaff, representing the outreach working group of Occupy Detroit, will be the featured speaker.
Occupy Ferndale soon followed, with a three-hour long peaceful demonstration at the corner of 9 Mile and Woodward. Occupiers filled every corner, with estimates of 100-150 at the peak time. The show of solidarity was organized by County Commissioner Craig Covey, who listed some of the Occupy Wall Street Movement’s frustrations with the current economic situation.
As the Occupy Wall Street protests continue to grow, movements are springing up all over the country including Occupy Detroit and Occupy Ferndale.
