The incident inspired Ferndale songwriter Kris McLonis and fellow writer David Moody from Detroit to write a song about Bath and the lives that were lost there. Together with John Sase of Royal Oak and producer Mike Canjar, Michigan Minstrel Music created a song and music video that she says “reminds people that there was always evil in the world, and this generation was not the first to face violence.”
Now he is in LA, livin’ the celebrity dream. But he is coming back for two nights worth of comedy appearances here in the Metro Detroit area.
She added that the support she gets in Ferndale is “amazing,” and said “It’s awesome to come back to school after a big weekend and have everybody being proud of you, saying ‘great job’ in the halls and stuff. It feels good.”
The Bud Light Ferndale Blues and Music Festival took place January 27 to February 4, 2012 with record turnout at over 20 venues. The money raised goes towards Michigan AIDS Coalition and Ferndale Youth Assistance.
I heard a lot of great music that night, and it amazed me how good they were. I saw them again and then I picked up on other local music that I liked. I thought, hey, I like these songs a lot better than any national band. So I found a way to make it fit with library stuff.”

Sing-a-long star Joe Reilly helped welcome the Winter Solstice on Dec. 20, 2011 with a special performance at the Ferndale Public Library along with Jillean McCommons (better known to the kids as Ms. Jillean). Planning is under way for one of the most popular grassroots events in Ferndale, the DIY Street Fair. The “DIY” stands for Do-It-Yourself, and the event brings together local artists, crafters, musicians, craft brewers and restauranteers for two days and three nights of fun Sept 16, 17, and 18, 2011.
