Currently the Ferndale-based free health clinic is operating at capacity and is not accepting new clients at this time. This month’s Charity is Ferndale Soup. The premise of Ferndale Soup is simple. On the third Sunday of each month, a bunch of people get together and each pay $5 to enjoy some soup (and other delicious food) and listen to presentations about projects that people would like to start. Then they vote on which project gets to take home the funding.
The FernCare Free Clinic (459 E. 9 Mile) had its ribbon cutting ceremony and open house today, after three and a half years of fundraising and planning by hundreds of volunteers, donors and supporters.
The Annual Rib Burn Off was a huge success, with ribs running out before 4:00 despite the heavy snow and cold weather conditions. The event, part of the annual Ferndale Blues Festival, raises money for Ferndale Youth Assistance and Michigan AIDS Coalition.
