Open House Gives Families Firsthand Look at Orion Fire Department

Yet a dozen local leaders from seven different communities came together Oct. 7 to get just a taste of what their fire departments do on behalf of the community.

Firefighters from the Ferndale Fire Department blocked off the street at Pinecrest for a neighborhood fire truck party. The party was purchased collectively by three families on the block, at a silent auction for Drayton Avenue Co-op Preschool.
“It’s going to be a couple hours at least before they get out here and get down to the problem,” the fireman said. “They’ll probably be working at it into the night.” He said that he expects the street to re-open by morning.
