Fire at Chazzano Coffee

The Ferndale Fire Department confirms that there was a small a fire at Chazzano Coffee at 1737 E 9 Mile. Details are not yet available, but owner Frank Lanzkron-Tamarazo posted on the company’s Facebook Page “Friends, we had a fire, just a few hours ago Chazzano Coffee Roasters and we will be closed until I have further information. Everyone is okay- the building is fine. I’m just not sure about the roaster, yet. I’ll keep everyone updated.-Frank.”

Special Council Meeting w/DTE Sept 28

Ferndale City Council will be holding a special City Council meeting on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at 7:00pm to discuss the power outage that occurred from July 20 to July 23, 2011. “This will be an opportunity for DTE to discuss what occurred over the summer and address the concerns our residents have,” said Mayor Dave Coulter. “Residents have been frustrated with the recent power outages and want answers.”

Dumpster Fire Dies Down

As the sun sets on the W. Troy Street Parking Lot in Downtown Ferndale, firemen use a portable circular saw to try and reach the smoldering debris in what’s left of a dumpster fire on the side of the Better Business Systems building. At approximately 5pm, an employee of Rosie O’Grady’s reported the fire in the shared dumpster, which is located in the City-owned lot just one block South of Nine Mile.
