Back to School: Ferndale Schools Tells Parents What they Need to Know

Al taught at Ferndale Public Schools for over 40 years until his retirement in 2008 and had attended the First Presbyterian Church of Tecumseh. In his youth, he was involved with the Boy Scouts and 4H then in college Al was a member of the fencing team and the Tri Beta Science Honorary.
Ferndale High School’s new Principal Lisa Williams knows the value of a good education. She grew up in an inner city home with four siblings and limited resources, attending Detroit Public Schools and getting pregnant at age 18.
“We’re all different, but I believe we all deserve respect. …This will show victims of bullying I have their back if they need help and send a message to their bullies that I will not encourage or accept their behavior with my silence.
On November 14, Kelsey Wilson, FHS Senior, signed a National Letter of Intent to play volleyball with Akron University. In addition to playing for Akron, Wilson received a full athletic scholarship for tuition, room and board, books and supplies.

Six students from Ferndale High School and another six from University High were honored at a Rotary Educational Achievement Award on May 10, 2001, with three of those students receiving a $2,000 scholarship towards college
