The 2011 Ferndale High School Homecoming Dance was memorialized by student filmmaker Natalie Berger, who manages her own brand PyxisFILMS. Berger previously created a film about the student production of Oalahoma!, as well as several other videos about things she and her friends get to experience as Ferndale High School students.
The class is offered each week, and it introduces attendees to the most popular social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus, LinkedIn, and You Tube. It also explains blogging, and how using a combination of blogs and social media one can position themselves as a valued employee in any field.
The Ferndale Schools will begin the school year tomorrow, Wednesday, September 7. This means all our schools (including CASA) will be open, buses will be running and we look forward to seeing everyone!
All Ferndale Schools activities are cancelled for Thursday, July 21, 2011, due to power outages and the extreme heat advisory. This includes all summer school programs; all sports practices and activities, and summer band/orchestra. All activities will resume on Friday, July 22.
After over ten years, Chuck Moeser has stepped aside as President of the Ferndale Board of Education, with Keith Warnick stepping in. They also set the dates for future meetings, made appointments to Board committees and external committees, and handled other routine annual decisions.
The Board of Education held a special study session on Monday, May 9, 2011 to begin exploring two significant projects, a facilities improvement bond and the possible purchase of property.

The request for injunction was filed by Ferndale Public Schools, Kalamazoo Public Schools, Lansing School District and Middle Cities Education Association. The Ferndale Public School District is working with a consultant from Oakland Schools, Dr. Lindson Feun of the Research, Evaluation, and Assessment Department, to design a statistically sound parent survey which will provide the district feedback on current elementary programming and learn about parents’ interests in future programs.
The food revolution is on in Ferndale Schools. When Coolidge and JFK Schools got slushees in the cafeteria last week, few knew that the ever-changing sweet treat is really made from 100% fruit. Other changes have been made over the past few months which have been subtly introducing more and more healthy food into the breakfast and lunch of students in the district.

The Ferndale Schools Fine Arts Boosters is gearing up for their second annual fundraising variety show, which they call “A Night of FABulous” entertainment. Performers of all kinds will be there, many whom are Ferndale Schools students, parents and alumni. This is the second annual FABulous show, creating a tradition of raising money to help students excel in the arts and music while also showcasing the talent in our community.
We went to a Ferndale Public Schools Meet and Greet today, and we were so happy that we went.
