Ferndale Schools Move Ahead with Strategic Planning

Stakeholders included administration, school board members past and present, teachers, parents and others in the community.

“We’ve found that there are four central themes that came up over and over,” Fleetham said. Those topics, which are now the focus of the planning moving forward, are enrollment, race, trust and collaboration and achievement gaps between student groups.

Unanswered Questions in the ICE Contract Controversy

Due to apparent inconsistencies, The Ferndale 115 News decided to look further into the claim of the cancellation happening on October 1st. To begin with, Meier cited The November 3rd article as “the final straw.” Secondly, Warnick campaigned throughout the month of October on the benefits of the contract, and never once mentioned the cancellation at the Policy meeting or Board meetings that took place in October.

On October 28, 2012, Citizens for Fair Ferndale hosted a candidate forum for the eight people running for the Ferndale School Board. The event, which took place at the Ferndale Public Library, was recorded by local videographer Keith Dalton of the Dalton Group.

Voters in the Ferndale School District will have the opportunity on Nov. 6 to vote for up to four representatives to the School Board. There are four open seats on the board, and eight candidates running.
