Triplett is one of three graduating seniors who received a $2,000 scholarship from the Ferndale Rotary at their April 11 student appreciation dinner.
“All the leads are fabulous vocally. The costumes are outstanding,” says producer Judy Donlin. “With two casts, people can come more than once and see a different perspective.” Nearly 100 students are taking part in the production (46 cast, 25 pit, 25 crew).
Ferndale High School’s new Principal Lisa Williams knows the value of a good education. She grew up in an inner city home with four siblings and limited resources, attending Detroit Public Schools and getting pregnant at age 18.
It wasn’t until 26 years later that Jason finally tracked down the man who helped make him, with a shot in the dark Facebook post and a group of tight-knit Ferndale alumni providing the critical piece to the puzzle.
Troubles lurk above and below at Ferndale High School, as multiple repairs and projects have the School District exploring the possibility of asking voters to approve a 7 mil bond extension. The public vote is expected to be in February 2012. If approved it would extend the taxpayers’ obligation from 2023 through 2033, and would generate approximately $26.5 million for the District to use on multiple infrastructure projects.
