Tabatha Morris of Hazel Park left with a smile on her freshly-glossed lips. “I’ve never walked away from a makeup session feeling like this,” she said, referring to the positive glow she got from being the model at the Ferndale Career Center’s “Six Steps to Fabulous” class held on Jan. 20, 2012.
“We find more and more that HR [human resource] managers are going online and finding out all sorts of information about potential employees that they aren’t supposed to know, like race or religion. But it’s all there, out in the public for anyone to see, and the people doing the hiring do look,” she said. “Other people are going to have a hard time getting a job because of things they posted in the past.”
On Self-Enhancement Day, clients are provided with free salon and spa treatments as well as interview clothing. Additionally, local business leaders and speakers present motivational seminars.
As the City of Ferndale approaches its 85th anniversary, a new commemorative poster showcases the fun mix of people and places that make Ferndale such a great place to live and do business.
