Dumpster Fire Dies Down

As the sun sets on the W. Troy Street Parking Lot in Downtown Ferndale, firemen use a portable circular saw to try and reach the smoldering debris in what’s left of a dumpster fire on the side of the Better Business Systems building. At approximately 5pm, an employee of Rosie O’Grady’s reported the fire in the shared dumpster, which is located in the City-owned lot just one block South of Nine Mile.

Cookie Challenge Brings Charities Some Dough

On Dec. 11, 2010 Downtown Ferndale was full of fun winter festivities for the annual Ice Festival. Businesses were decorated with holiday glitz and glam, accentuated with spectacular ice carvings in front of many local shops. Families enjoyed meeting Santa and his reindeer, ice skating in the Library parking lot, festive music, crafts and holiday sales. Jack Whitehead’s Works Raise Money for Affirmations

…Through the end of November, visitors to the Pittman-Puckett gallery inside Affirmations (290 W. 9 Mile) can enjoy the super-sized acrylic paintings of Jack Whitehead. Sonically Speaking: Book About MC5 Sells out New Way Signing

…In MC5: Sonically Speaking, Callwood follows the band from it’s 1960s beginnings in Detroit, to their 1972 break up and more recent reunion. The book was released in London in 2007, but has just been re-released through Wayne State University Press. (http://wsupress.wayne.edu/books/1180/MC5).
