After a six month hiatus, Downtown Ferndale’s entrepreneur initiative is back on the front burner. Downtown Ferndale IGNITE re-launches Thursday, Feb. 10 at Go! Comedy Improv Theatre. Scheduled from 5:30 to 7:30 pm, the night’s presentation will focus on planning for your business, whether it is already open or still a dream.
On Dec. 11, 2010 Downtown Ferndale was full of fun winter festivities for the annual Ice Festival. Businesses were decorated with holiday glitz and glam, accentuated with spectacular ice carvings in front of many local shops. Families enjoyed meeting Santa and his reindeer, ice skating in the Library parking lot, festive music, crafts and holiday sales. But one profitable tradition associated with Ice Festival is the Warm-Hearted Cookie Challenge…

One a month the Downtown Development Authority (DDA) organizes a networking meeting for business owners and managers called FernNet. City Hall was packed on Monday, Sept. 27, 2010 as residents came out to speak against the sound ordinance petition being circulated by W. Troy Street resident Sherry Wells. Wells and ten of her neighbors. The neighbors had been attempting to get an ordinance on the ballot that would lower decibels throughout the City to 65 and ban outside amplified music… (read more)

Downtown Ferndale gained new national recognition Tuesday, May 4, 2010 when it was named winner of the Great American Main Street Award (GAMSA) at the National Main Street Conference in Oklahoma City.
The signs will incorporate the Downtown Ferndale logo which is a D and an F in circles, or the shortened dtwn Ferndale with an arrow after the D. They will also tie in the funky Downtown Ferndale colors of green, blue and purple. “This will make Downtown Ferndale more recognizable to everyone across generations,” says DDA Director Cristina Sheppard-Decius. She said that the program will also include an online tour of Ferndale that people can view online, or print out and do in person.
