The Financial Planning Committee held a public meeting on Dec. 29, 2010 to present options to residents for balancing the city’s budget, recommending that Council puts a Headlee Over-Ride on the ballot for the residents to vote on. The presentation was just a rough draft of what the Committee will be presenting to Council, who will make the ultimate decision of how to move forward.
This has been a fun and interesting year for wine. We’ve been able to hone our selection even further, sussing out good deals where there were thought to be none, fighting to get products desired but not previously available in Michigan brought in, and most importantly of all, helping the customers at Western Market find real wine that they can connect with.

On Thursday, December 23rd at about 10:30 a.m. burglars broke into a house on Allen between Fielding and Gardendale. There was also a police chase from thieves at Western Market that ended with suspects crashing into a home in Detroit.
Just after 8pm on Dec. 22, 2010 Ferndale Police and Fire Departments were called to 23123 Berdeno Ave. in Hazel Park to assist the neighboring fire department with a home engulfed in flames.
Ferndale Police are investigating the shooting of a 64 year old man in the Dollar Club Plus Dollar Store located at 2750 Hilton Road near Woodward Heights (9 ½ Mile Road). The incident occurred 11/26/2010 at approximately 9 p.m.

Three Ferndale Veterans were honored on Thursday, Nov. 4, 2010 with presentations of handmade quilts by the Quilts of Valor Foundation on behalf of The Ferndale Rotary.
Jeannie Davis, longtime Ferndale resident and President of the Ferndale Seniors, is going to be on the hot seat on Friday November 19th in a local-celebrity roast to benefit The Ferndale Community Foundation and the Ferndale Seniors.

One thing that catches your eye when you walk into Linda’s boutique is how the garments and accessories are arranged. You can definitely tell that it was art-inspired from the way the belts are criss-crossed on the table to the displays in the front window.
Chamber members get to use the giant pair of scissors to cut a big red bow, and neighbors often turn out to welcome them as well. But one business opening had an honor that hadn’t occurred in Ferndale before.
