Brown is excited and grateful to be part of COLAGE. That’s why by February 12, her 25th birthday, she hopes to raise $250 to go towards the program. There were multi-colored chew toys made of fleece, and ceramic dogs tags available. Over 100 items were sold during the four-hour event. They expected sales to be $200, but a generous anonymous donor made their till double by the end of the day…
After a six month hiatus, Downtown Ferndale’s entrepreneur initiative is back on the front burner. Downtown Ferndale IGNITE re-launches Thursday, Feb. 10 at Go! Comedy Improv Theatre. Scheduled from 5:30 to 7:30 pm, the night’s presentation will focus on planning for your business, whether it is already open or still a dream.
But for those that live on the Northwest corner of town, snow days are a lot easier thanks to The Woodland Park Improvement Association (WPIA). And also to Clinton Rasch, the kind neighbor who gets up bright and early with his monster snow blower to clear the walkways of W. Oakridge, W. Drayton, W. Woodland, W. Maplehurst and part of W. Lewiston as part of a low-cost agreement with the WPIA.
Ferndale Schools host an annual breakfast for realtors and members of the business community. This year, the district partnered with the Ferndale Area Chamber of Commerce to co-host the event and welcomed the largest number of guests, more than 60, in attendance since the event began nearly a decade ago.
The Annual Rib Burn Off was a huge success, with ribs running out before 4:00 despite the heavy snow and cold weather conditions. The event, part of the annual Ferndale Blues Festival, raises money for Ferndale Youth Assistance and Michigan AIDS Coalition.
At approximately 9am on Feb. 4 an employee at Western Market was severely injured when her arms became trapped in a cardboard baler. The employee is alive and has undergone surgery that may save her badly damaged arms. The injured woman has asked for her privacy in this matter, although other media outlets have written about it

anniversary, to become Birmingham’s City Manager.
Last November the Ferndale Film Festival attracted thousands of visitors to Downtown Ferndale to view 36 independent films at multiple venues along Woodward Ave. and 9 Mile Road. In addition to attracting customers into the restaurants, bars, and stores, The Ferndale Film Festival raised $3,000 for neighborhood charities.
