The Summer Concert Series at the Ferndale Public Library has begun, with a performance by Soul Explosion Tuesday night. The jazz group played to a packed community center room, reminding everyone that FPL is not your typical “quiet” library.
Upon arrival, officers located a 70 year old female resident of the city of Ferndale laying in the left lane of north bound Woodward Avenue. She was unresponsive and officers began first aide on the injured victim. Ferndale Fire Rescue responded and transported the victim to William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak where she was pronounced dead.

The victim reported that she was ambushed by Thomas on June 8, 2013 as she exited her 9 Mile apartment. When she walked out of her door to the area near a community laundry, Thomas came out of the laundry room and threw gasoline on her. He then extended out his arm toward her.
