It’s Taste of Ferndale Time – Feb 21

Whether you want to support local charities, or enjoy some good food, Taste of Ferndale is a good choice according to Pawlica. “Ferndale is just as diverse in our food choices as we are in the people who live and work in the city. This event allows people to discover restaurants they may have never heard of before and be reintroduced to some favorites they may not have visited in a while.”

Big Bands are Part of this year’s Blues & Music Festival

The Bud Light Ferndale Blues & Music Festival will be bigger and better this year, and one show will trump them all in terms of the sheer volume of musical talent in one place.

The Bridge Project and the Grosse Pointe Jazz Band, each with over 15 members, will showcase big band jazz at its finest at the Ferndale Elks Club (22856 Woodward Ave) on Monday, Jan. 30, 2012 from 7-9 pm as part of the City-wide festival.

Wire Down at 9 and Hilton, 1713 Without Power

DTE Crews are on the scene at E. 9 Mile and Hilton where a downed wire has knocked out power to approximately 1713 customers. Crews are working quickly to get power turned back on as quickly as possible, but an official estimate has not been obtained. (ie, after half an hour of getting nowhere on DTE’s website or phone line we gave up. Seriously though, it looks like they’ve got it under control.)

Ferndale Career Center Teaches about Timeline

“We find more and more that HR [human resource] managers are going online and finding out all sorts of information about potential employees that they aren’t supposed to know, like race or religion. But it’s all there, out in the public for anyone to see, and the people doing the hiring do look,” she said. “Other people are going to have a hard time getting a job because of things they posted in the past.”
