Garden Club Growing Since 1931

The group has been active since 1931 and there are now over 30 members. Members do not need to be experts, though many have gardens of breathtaking beauty, and some are even certified Master Gardeners.

Camp Casey Fest is in full swing, but also in full wind. The day-long festival to raise money so that kids with cancer can enjoy time with horses is taking place until 11pm, with plenty of fun, shopping and music. Country music star Josh Gracin is headlining the event, and he is expected to take the stage at 8:30pm.

Gift of Life Bone Marrow Foundation will hold a donor recruitment drive to register potential bone marrow donors for its worldwide registry at Camp Casey Fest. The drive will benefit children who have been diagnosed with cancer. The event, scheduled on October 15 on East 9 Mile between Woodward and Bermuda, will run from 11 AM to 5 PM.

The City of Ferndale was among four cities denied storm cleanup funds for the damaged caused by high winds and fallen trees over Labor Day Weekend. On September 8, 2011 Mayor Dave Coulter signed a declaration calling the cleanup efforts a state of emergency, which is one of the requirements for a Homeland Security natural disaster grant.
