County Executive L. Brooks Patterson said. “I’m exceedingly proud of the progress Pontiac has made in bringing its downtown to life and Ferndale continues to amaze with the energy and passion it brings to the program. I congratulate both cities as well as the other winners for the contributions they make to create desirable and viable downtowns.”
“The court believes it could craft an opinion on this matter, but no matter what I did would not satisfy either side,” he said. “Hopefully the Supreme Court will give us some direction. I think it’s important for this case to move forward, but the court believes I should stay a decision until these decisions.”
While the DDA has urged the city to improve the system, it has also become a partner with the city as a member of the City’s Parking Management Team. As Barbara and I struggled with the question of whether I should run again, we focused on our belief that our country is at a crossroads that will determine our economic health and security for decades to come. We decided that I can best serve my state and nation by concentrating in the next two years on the challenging issues before us that I am in a position to help address; in other words, by doing my job without the distraction of campaigning for re-election.

The officers discussed the matter with Stanfield and gave him the opportunity to return to the restaurant rather than pay the bill. As the officers stood next to Stanfield, he put the car in gear, turned into the traffic lane (causing the officers to move or be run over), yell an obscenity at them, and sped off. Officers pursued as Stanfield fled at high rates of speeds through Detroit streets…
The discussion took place in West Bloomfield Township, a community that passed a moratorium on fracking last year after Township Supervisor Michele Economou Ureste sat in on a land auction where rights to Michigan’s resources were bid out to oil and gas companies.
With some of the land being in Oakland County, municipal and county officials like Economou Ureste had concerns about the potential for fracking so close to home. Northern Oakland County has several lakes…

Councilperson Mike Lennon, a former police officer with the Ferndale PD empathized with Collins’ presentation. “I know these facilities well, and they are inadequate, and they have been for a really long time.”
In November Longo gave a presentation to City Council about the things he’d like to see in a remodel of the 43rd District Court building.
The lack of ADA compliant facilities is not the only problem with the 43rd District Courthouse, although it is the most heart-wrenching. Other issues Longo listed include:
In her 22 years of life, Melissa Sue Balogh was a beloved Ferndale resident. She was born on December 23, 1990 to John and Deann Blaogh, and had three sisters Vanessa, Crystal and Ashley. She passed away on Feb. 25, 2013 due to health issues possibly related to an asthma attack or food allergy. She is also lovingly remembered by classmates from Ferndale High School, and by her nieces Faith Thomason, Keara and Dravyn Fournier,
The Ferndale officer became suspicious and arrested LAWSON for not having a license on him. Further investigation showed that LAWSON is not nor ever was a police officer. Both of the School Districts that serve our community (Hazel Park and Ferndale) are closed on Feb. 27 due to snow.
Residents are encouraged to review our “Stuff to Know for the Snow” article, which reminds people to keep their sidewalks shoveled and to move cars from the street for snow plows. It also gives tips for “green” snow removal. https://oaklandcounty115.com/2012/12/27/stuff-to-know-for-the-snow/
Lee was in his Highland Park home when his older brother (who is either 23 or 34) was “playing around” with a handgun on Tuesday and it discharged accidentally. Lee died from a single gunshot wound to the chest.
In order to quell some of the uproar, Ferndale City Council has extended a parking holiday until the next City Council meeting, March 11. Parking is free in Ferndale during that time, and the rates will be discussed at that meeting. Council has also approved the purchase of 14 more multi-space meters to help with the congestion. The machines have been rush ordered so they will come within the next two weeks.
