Ferndale Schools were named one of the 2013 Best Communities in the Nation for Music Education for the third year in a row by the NAMM Foundation. Ferndale is one of 11 communities in Michigan to receive this designation.

Now the real work begins, as they prepare to create an event space that will allow them to host events during the week without worrying about the security of the artists who have booth areas at the market.

Ferndale Rotary teamed up with Capuchin Soup Kitchen this year for their annual Winter Warm Up Soup Contest, held at Shriner’s Silver Garden in Southfield. The grand event featured soups from several local businesses as well as gourmet desserts and a large silent auction.

Ferndale City Council has voted to extend free parking until March 24th, and to revert rates back to 50 cents per hour until further study can be done on what rates would be appropriate.
