Dyke March Gears Up for Year Three

“Right now there are only 4 women in the Michigan Senate, and 27 female representatives in the Michigan House. Yet in this legislative session alone, over 140 bills have been introduced that directly affect women’s rights in Michigan,” said Kate Morgan of Ferndale. “We believe that in order to make positive change for women, we need more women’s voices in Michigan’s political sphere.”

Ferndale Pride is setting a jovial pace for Father’s Day weekend activities. Not only will there be Ferndale Pride Market Daze, the Annual Dyke March, a balloon launch (with biodegradable balloons) and a new Light the Night event, there will also be the messiest and perhaps the merriest event of all: The Rainbow Run.

“Registration is $32 which partially goes back to Ferncare. Our goal this year is to raise $1,000. If each of us can raise at least $100 we should make our goal! I hope to have more registered runners this year so we can surpass our goal,” Music said.
