Oak Park Public Library Hosting Focus Groups and Online Survey for Input on Future Plans
(Oakland County Times, Sept 12, 2026)
Oak Park, MI -The Oak Park Public Library is asking residents to share their thoughts about the future of the library as the Library Board of Trustees works on a new three-year strategic plan.
The board wants to hear what is important to Oak Park residents, and what they would like to see from the library in the coming years. Community input will also help the board as it develops future library budgets.
Residents can participate in one of two ways: by completing a short online survey or by attending a library focus group.
The survey takes about five minutes to complete.
Residents can also participate in one of three focus group sessions:
- Wednesday, September 16 at 2 p.m.
- Wednesday, September 16 at 6 p.m.
- Thursday, September 17 at 10:45 a.m., immediately following Story Time in the Youth Department

The focus groups are expected to last approximately 45 minutes to an hour and will include library trivia, prizes and an open discussion about the future of the library.
“This request is for the library only, not any other part of the City,” said Kimberly Schaaf, Oak Park Public Library director. “The Library Board is forming a three-year strategic plan that reflects what you want to see.”
The library is encouraging residents to share the survey and focus group information with neighbors, friends and family. The board hopes to gather as much community feedback as possible as it plans for the library’s future.
