Data Shows Voter Turnout So Far in Oakland County Cities and Townships, In Person Voting Happens Tuesday

Oakland County, MI – Today is Sunday, August 2, 2026. This is the last day of Early Voting for the August 4 Michigan Primary election. Absentee ballots may be submitted up until 8pm on Election Day. Poll hours are 7am to 8pm on Tuesday. The Michigan Secretary of State has been issuing data on total ballots received by county and municipality since approximately 2 weeks ago.
In preparation for my usual analyses after the election results are in, I thought I would look at where each of Oakland County’s voting municipalities stands in turnout, with one day of early voting and 2 days of absentee returns left before election day.
On the ballot county-wide are races for Circuit Court Judge, Probate Court Judge, and a county-wide school enhancement millage. Several communities and school districts also have proposals. (See the whole list, and candidate interviews, here)
Across the county, 173,463 ballots (absentee and early) have been cast, accounting for 18.5 percent of active registered voters. Absentee ballots accounted for 155,068 votes, while early voters numbered 18,395. The accompanying chart provides an alphabetical listing of municipalities with their current turnout percentages.
Those with the lowest turnout so far are Keego Harbor (10.9%), Hazel Park (10.7%), and Pontiac (10.2%) .In addition to the county-wide votes, Hazel Park has a Library Millage on the ballot, and Pontiac has three proposals: Library Funding, Senior Services, and Youth Centers.
Bloomfield Township is the highest so far with 26.3%. Bloomfield Township has a Road Maintenance Millage and a Public Safety Millage on the ballot.
These numbers are only a portion of the elections total turnout. We’ll provide updated totals after the Aug. 4 election, along with a ranking. Will these early numbers inspire people to get out and vote Aug. 4? Check back after the primary to see!
