2026 Candidate Interview: Ren Nushaj for State Senate District 9

Rochester, Rochester Hills, Troy, Utica, Sterling Heights, Shelby Township, and Oakland Township, MI – In the race for State District 9, there are three candidates in the Aug 4 Democratic primary: Theresa Brooks, Brendan Johnson, and Ren Nushaj. The winner will go on to the Nov 3 election. In the Republican primary the only candidate is Michael Webber.
Also running are Working Class Party candidate Jacob Schodowski, and Philippe Cicchini who has no party affiliation, who will appear on the Nov. 3 ballot.
Michigan Senate District 9 includes Rochester, Rochester Hills, Troy, Utica, and parts of Sterling Heights, Shelby Township, and Oakland Township.
The position has a four-year term.
