2026 Candidate Interview: Crystal Bailey for State Representative District 5

Detroit, Oak Park, and Royal Oak Township, MI – In the race for State Representative in the 5th District there are three Democrats running in the Aug.4 primary: Crystal Bailey, Candace Calloway, and Soummer Moore-Crawford.
The winner will move on to the Nov. 3, 2026 election. Chris Venable is unopposed in the Republican primary and is expected to be on the Nov. 3 ballot.
Michigan House of Representatives District 5 includes part of NW Detroit, Oak Park, and Royal Oak Township.
The position has a two-year term.
