Closures Expected as Gunn, Morgan, Rohr, and Maybee Roads to be Resurfaced

Oakland Township and Orion Township, MI – A contractor for the Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) plans to resurface Gunn Road from Adams Road west to the end of the pavement in Oakland Township and Morgan, Rohr and Maybee roads in Orion Township in the coming weeks.
The contractor, Ajax Paving Company of Troy, plans to pulverize the existing asphalt pavement on Gunn Road on Tuesday and Wednesday next week, July 21 and 22. They will then repave the road the following week (week of July 27).
During the work, the road will be closed to through traffic, but anyone accessing homes or businesses on the road will be able to do so.
In Orion Township, Ajax is planning to pulverize the existing pavement on Morgan Road, Rohr Road to Baldwin Road, on Thursday, July 23 and Friday, July 24. They will then pulverize the pavement on Rohr Road, Morgan Road to Maybee Road, which is expected to take three days, and then do the same on Maybee Road between Baldwin and Grafton roads, which is expected to take two days.
These schedules are weather dependent and could potentially change.
The contractor is then expected to place new pavement on each of the roads in the following weeks. As with Gunn Road, Morgan, Rohr and Maybee roads will be closed to through traffic during the work, but anyone traveling to or from homes or businesses on the roads will be able to do so.
In each case, after the existing pavement is pulverized, the pulverized asphalt will be compacted to serve as a new base for the road, and four inches of new asphalt will be placed. The work is being done as part of RCOC’s Preservation Overlay program and provides a new surface on the roads that extends their expected life span by five to ten years.
