Children, and Pet, Rescued from Fire in Orion Township

Orion Township, MI – The Orion Township Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire on Meadowbrook Court alongside deputies from the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office.
Upon arrival, first responders encountered a working fire and discovered two children stranded on the second story of the residence. An Oakland County Sheriff’s deputy climbed onto a trash container to gain access to the children and successfully assisted in their rescue from the upper level of the structure.
Firefighters from the Orion Township Fire Department immediately initiated fire suppression operations and were able to bring the fire under control. During the incident, firefighters also rescued the family’s dog from the residence.
The two children were transported to a local hospital for evaluation as a precaution. No serious injuries were reported to the children, residents, firefighters, or law enforcement personnel.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The Orion Township Fire Department would like to recognize the coordinated efforts of the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office and fire personnel whose rapid actions helped ensure a successful outcome for the family.
