Musical performances take place at Schiffer Park every Sunday from 4 to 5 PM for nine consecutive weeks, starting on Sunday, July 12th until Sunday, September 6th, 2026.
A QR code is available to encourage and guide the public to shop, dine and explore all that Downtown Ferndale offers both before and after each performance!
Nine on Nine Concert Series is a family-friendly event that celebrates the rich cultural diversity of Ferndale and the surrounding region through live music, public art, and community engagement. Performances feature talent from across Metro Detroit—including seven artists with direct connections to the City of Ferndale.
The 2026 lineup showcases a wide range of musical genres and experiences.
July 12 – McKayla Mae Prew | County
July 19 – Urban Muse | Motor City Blues Jazz
July 26 – Detroit Celtic Ramblers (DCR) | Celtic
August 2 – Raedy Lex + Vinyl Swap | Global (EDM/Vinyl)
August 9 – Libby DeCamp (Quartet) | Alternative Blue Grass
August 16 – The Hi-Views | Swing Rockabilly
August 23 – ChromaSynthesis | Jazz Fusion
August 30 – The Tread Lightlies | Rock Pop
September 6 – The Volcano’s | 60’s Surf
Each concert is paired with unique activities and community gatherings that encourage attendees to arrive early and stay engaged. Planned activities create an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere that brings residents and visitors together while highlighting the creative spirit and cultural vibrancy of the Ferndale community.
This year, the series will include electronic music paired with a community vinyl swap and an information session hosted by the Ferndale Area District Library; another weekend will feature family-friendly story time activities.
Other crowd favorites will return such as Ms. Meghan’s Musical Maker Show for children and Doggie Day, a special celebration for our four-legged friends.
A community jam session will be part of the final performance when attendees are encouraged to bring their own instruments and join in.
More than 100 submissions were received and reviewed by members of the Downtown Ferndale volunteer selection committee. “I appreciate how these concerts make the arts accessible to everyone. Not everyone can attend large, ticketed events, so free performances ensure that music and culture remain part of the community fabric.” Said volunteer Maryanne Wessels “To me, free community concerts represent more than just entertainment—they’re about belonging, connection, and the simple joy of experiencing something meaningful together. “
Schiffer Park is located at Planavon Street and West Nine Mile Road in Downtown Ferndale. Public parking is available nearby and there is no cost to park on Sundays. Blankets and lawn chairs are encouraged. Events are pet friendly. More information can be found online on Downtown Ferndale’s website and Facebook.
