(Waterford Police, May 16, 2026)
Waterford, MI – At approximately 9:50pm Thursday, Waterford Police received a request for assistance from Michigan State Police (MSP) Troopers who had pursued a fleeing suspect vehicle into Waterford Township.
The suspect, a 60-year-old male from Madison Heights, turned into a neighborhood near Turrillium Lane and Williams Lake Road where he crashed into a tree. The vehicle came to rest in a low marshy area.

Fearing for their lives, Officers fired upon the suspect. Officers secured the suspect’s handgun and immediately rendered aid. Waterford Regional Fire Department responded and the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office responded at our request to process the scene and investigate the Officer involved shooting portion of this incident. The Waterford Township Officers involved have been placed on administrative leave during the investigation.
