Oakland County Restaurant Quest: Morelia’s Italian Fried Chicken in Ferndale
Ferndale, MI – Morelia’s Italian Fried Chicken has become a popular choice in Ferndale, serving up a small, but well-done menu in a space that is mostly for carryout, but does have a few seats.
The Italian Fried Chicken Combo has a piece of fried chicken with a choice of two sides, sauce, and garlic toast. For mine I had the Brussels Sprout Salad and the Mascarpone Polenta. The Brussels Sprout Salad was made with shaved sprouts, lemon, percorino, and honey. The polenta had mascarpone cheese and tomato compote.
And for another visit I had the Chicken Parm sandwich. Made with the same crispy fried chicken, house made mozzarella, marinara, and parmsean this was a delightful, hearty meal.
Morelia’s also has White Pasta with Parmesan, spinach, and hot Italian sausage. And the Red Pasta has Neapolitan pork ragu, braised pork, parsley, and pecorino. There are a handful of salads, including Tuscan Kale and Caesar. And the side items include zucchini fritters, baked ziti, and pasta fagioli.
For dessert one might enjoy Zeppoles, which are traditional Italian doughnuts.
