Lapeer Road Head-On Crash Kills Two in Orion Township
(OCSO, April 12, 2026)
Orion Township, MI – Saturday’s head-on car crash on Lapeer Road in Orion Township that fatally injured an 86-year-old Rochester Hills man has claimed a second victim – the man’s wife.
Florence Anna Young, 86, died this afternoon from injuries suffered in the crash that claimed the life of her husband, Alfred Henry Young, a day earlier.
The crash happened about 1:11 p.m. on Saturday near Lapeer Road and Greenshield Road. According to crash investigators from the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, a 2015 Ford Fiesta being driven by a 63-year-old Hazel Park man was heading northbound on Lapeer Road.
For an unknown reason, the vehicle left the road, drove through the median and into the southbound lane of Lapeer Road, striking a 2011 Lincoln MKX head-on. The Fiesta driver and his wife, a 60-year-old resident of Hazel Park, remain hospitalized in critical condition.
Paramedics from the Auburn Hills Fire Department, Oakland Township Fire Department and Orion Township Fire Department assisted at the scene. Alcohol, drugs, and speed did not appear to be factors in the crash.
The Oakland County Medical Examiner’s Office assumed custody of the deceased and an autopsy was scheduled for today. The Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Unit is investigating the incident.
