Birmingham Officials to Interview Eight Candidates for City Commission Vacancy
(City of Birmingham, April 12, 2026)
Eight residents applied to fill an upcoming Birmingham City Commission vacancy created by Mayor Pro Tem Anthony Long’s recent notice of resignation. Learn more about them during their interviews at a City Commission workshop on Monday, April 13 at 6 p.m., just before the regular commission meeting at 7 p.m. in City Hall.

At the end of the 7 p.m. meeting, commissioners will make nominations and vote on a candidate. The selected candidate will be sworn in and will begin serving as an acting City Commissioner during the city’s budget hearing on Saturday, April 25, 2026.
