Ferndale Art March: Hiroya Tsukamoto Master of Fingerstyle Guitar Concert March 27
Ferndale, MI -Do not miss this opportunity to Experience the spellbinding artistry of Hiroya Tsukamoto, a Japanese-born master of fingerstyle guitar and evocative storytelling, as he returns to the Pursell Lutherie to perform songs from his newest album, Rainshadow. Ticket purchase includes a 60 minute workshop at 6:30pm on Friday, March 27th, 2026, giving attendees the opportunity to discuss with Mr. Tsukamoto on a personal level as he divulges his uniquely curated style. Following the workshop Hiroya Tsukamoto will put on a solo guitar concert, performing songs from his newest album Rainshadow. The concert will begin at 8:00pm to give our guests time to settle in. Ticket options will include a workshop/concert combo and concert only.
On this latest project, Tsukamoto uses his composing and songwriting talents to hone in on crafting compelling, memorable, and singable melodies. He writes, “Through this record, I hope you will find some melodies that resonate with you and that you end up humming in your daily life.”
Recognized for his dizzyingly agile fingerpicking and his soulful performances, Tsukamoto invites audiences into his world of musical exploration and emotional expression. Come witness a performer who has been celebrated for his “delicate, fluid, and beautifully detailed” style (Acoustic Guitar magazine), and for his ability to take listeners on an “impressionistic journey” (Boston Herald).
Tsukamoto, an alumnus of Berklee College of Music, has been recognized for his talents on stages such as Blue Note in New York City, Japanese National Television (NHK), International Storytelling Center, and United Nations. He scored second place at the International Fingerstyle Guitar Championship in 2018 and 2022.

The Downtown Development Authority (DDA) is proud to host “Art March” in conjunction with the Downtown Ferndale Public Art Program and the Ferndale Arts & Beautification Commission. Art March mirrors the experience of a traditional art gallery exhibition—beginning with an opening celebration and unfolding throughout the month with self-guided public art walks, hands-on workshops, pop up art installations, interactive games, and gallery crawls, before concluding with a public closing reception.
