Pontiac’s Beaudette Park Closed for Winter, Ice on Dawson Millpond Deemed Dangerous
(City of Pontiac, Feb. 8, 2026)
Pontiac, MI – Effective immediately, City of Pontiac has closed Beaudette Park and the gates will remain locked. The continued cold weather is causing unsafe conditions on and around the water. Oakland County Water Resources Commission is working to resolve an issue with the dam’s flow controls. Water levels are expected to be restored soon, but the continually changing water levels are causing the ice on the lake to be extremely unstable.
For everyone’s safety, please stay off the ice at the Mill Dam and around the Dawson Millpond for the remainder of the winter season. Ice thickness can vary widely and change without warning, creating safety risks. Thank you for your cooperation and patience!
