(Oxford Township, Jan 15, 2026)
Oxford, MI – The Oxford Twp. Board has accepted the resignation of Trustee Paul Schapira, who was appointed to the position on May 20, 2025. “Due to increasing professional commitments, I am no longer able to dedicate the necessary time and energy required to fulfill my duties as a trustee,” wrote Schapira in his Jan. 7 letter of resignation.
The township is now seeking applicants to fill the vacant trustee seat. The deadline to apply is 12 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 29.
Those interested in applying must submit a resume and letter of interest to the township clerk’s office at 300 Dunlap Rd. Applications must be made in person. No emails, please. The clerk’s office is open from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
Applicants must be at least 18 years old, an Oxford Township or Oxford Village resident for at least 30 days and a registered voter.
Interviews will be conducted during a special meeting of the township board on Wednesday, Feb. 4. The board could appoint someone to fill the vacancy at that meeting.
