19 Year Old Found Dead in Field in Pontiac, Police Seek Info

Pontiac, MI – Oakland County Sheriff’s Office detectives are investigating the fatal shooting of a 19-year-old Warren man, whose body was discovered Wednesday in a Pontiac neighborhood.
Deputies were dispatched to the 100 block of N. Jessie at 8:16 a.m. on Wednesday. A caller reported there was a man lying in the field next to the caller’s residence. The caller reported the man was not breathing.
The Waterford Regional Fire Department responded to the scene and found the man had a gunshot wound to his chest. He was identified as Cornelius Traves Murphy Jr.
The incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information about the shooting, or who may have heard or seen something on Tuesday about 8:30 p.m. when the shooting is believed to have happened, is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP. Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $2,000 for information leading to an arrest in the case. Tipsters remain anonymous.
