Ferndale Library Hosting Town Hall to Help Shape Future Jan 12
The staff of the Ferndale Area District Library invites residents to take part in an engaging and collaborative evening designed to help shape the library’s future, to be held on Monday, January 12, at 6:00 pm in the Ferndale High School Media Center. All are welcome; no registration is required. Attendees to this event are also not required to currently have a library card.
This informal, come-as-you-are event is an opportunity for residents to share their thoughts, experiences, and ideas about the library. Whether you are a frequent visitor, an occasional user, or someone who hasn’t stopped by in a while, your perspective matters. Library leadership is eager to learn how the community currently uses library services, what resources are most valuable, and what people would like to see grow or change in the years ahead.
Attendees can expect a relaxed, friendly atmosphere with guided conversations, opportunities to share personal experiences, and ample chances to speak directly with library representatives. Complimentary refreshments will be provided, and participants can enter a raffle for a special door prize from the Friends of the Ferndale Library as a thank-you for their time and input.
The evening also offers an opportunity to meet some of the library’s dedicated staff and members of the Board of Directors. Guests are encouraged to ask questions, share stories, and engage in open dialogue about the library’s role in the community. At the same time, library leaders will be asking thoughtful questions of their own—listening closely to community feedback as they plan for the future.
“We want to make sure the library is responsive and relevant to our community,” said FADL Director Drew Macalay. “So it’s crucial to hear directly from the people who use it—but also from the folks who might not, yet.”
The Community Engagement Session is part of an ongoing effort to strengthen connections, ensure transparency, and make informed decisions that will guide the library’s strategic direction. Community voices will help inform priorities, identify opportunities, and support a shared vision for a vibrant, responsive library.
Residents are encouraged to stop by, enjoy a treat, join the conversation, and help shape the future of the Ferndale Library. “We’re eager to listen, learn, and talk with Ferndale residents,” Macaulay said, “about where the library goes from here.”
