Dec 12 – Ferndale Hosting Community Conversation on License Plate Cameras
(Crystal A. Proxmire, Dec. 7, 2025)
Ferndale, MI – The City of Ferndale is hosting a Community Conversation about Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) Technology. After community members raised concerns about the technology, the city opted not to renew service with Flock Safety. After announcing the end of that agreement, City Council was then presented with a proposal to use Axon for a similar service. The vote on that contract has been delayed so that a Community Conversation can take place.
The Community Conversation is scheduled for Friday, December 12, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at 300 E. Nine Mile Road.
According to the City, the event will include a brief educational presentation followed by an open, community-focused discussion. The discussion will be hosted by an outside facilitator, US² Consulting Inc.
