Dickens Festival Brings Holiday Magic to Holly, with Two More Weekends To Go

Holly, MI – Holly Dickens Festival is in full swing, with the historic downtown decked out in traditional holiday decor and filled with pageantry reminiscent of Christmases past. The festival pays homage to the classic “A Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickens, with volunteers dressed in Victorian outfits and even the chance to cross paths with Santa Claus, Queen Victoria, or even a grumpy Scrooge. Children dressed like chimney sweeps break out in song and dance, and on a stage at the end of Battle Alley performers amaze visitors throughout the weekend.
The celebration last three weekends between Thanksgiving and Christmas, and provides the perfect atmosphere for holiday shopping at unique local businesses. Downtown Holly is known for it’s antique shops, boutiques, quaint cafes, and other destination shops, plus there are tents lining the street offering up gift ideas including clothing, crafts, and holiday treats.
Kids (and adults) can enjoy visiting with Santa, an adorable petting farm, and an all-season sledding hill. The Oakland County Parks kiddie train makes the rounds through Carpo Park, while a full size horse-drawn carriage gives visitors of any age the chance to click-clack through the town.
Visitors can stay warm in at The Olde Red Lion Pub, and even road chestnuts in the fire pits out front.
The fun continues for two more weekends: Dec. 6 -7, and Dec. 13-14.
