Police Seek Information on Fatal Hit and Run on Nine Mile in Oak Park

Oak Park, MI – On Saturday, November 22, 2025, at approximately 5:20 a.m., Oak Park Public Safety Officers were dispatched to the area of West Nine Mile Road near Harding Street for a report of a man down in the roadway.
Responding officers arrived on scene and located a 71-year-old disabled male veteran who had been struck by a motor vehicle. Public Safety Officers immediately attempted lifesaving measures; however, the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene and was transported to the Oakland County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Preliminary investigation indicates the veteran and his wheelchair were in the roadway when struck by an eastbound traveling dark colored sedan – likely a Kia or Hyundai – which continued traveling after the collision. The vehicle fled the scene and is being sought as part of the ongoing investigation.
The Oak Park Public Safety Investigations and Detective Bureau, in conjunction with the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Reconstruction Team, is conducting a full investigation.
