Auburn Hills Celebrates Paving of Last Gravel Road, Pays Tribute to Glenn McIntosh
(City of Auburn Hills, Nov. 20, 2025)
Auburn Hills, MI – The City of Auburn Hills is proud to announce the completion and dedication of Butler Road, the last unpaved road in Auburn Hills. This infrastructure upgrade improves local transportation, safety, and community connectivity.
City officials, partners, and community members gathered on November 13, 2025, to celebrate the opening of the newly paved road and to honor the life and legacy of Glenn McIntosh.
“This project is a great example of Auburn Hills’ commitment to maintaining high-quality infrastructure that meets the needs of our growing community,” said Brian Marzolf, Mayor of Auburn Hills. “Butler Road now offers safer travel for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians, and will serve as a key connector for years to come. We’re grateful for the collaboration between our engineering team, contractors, staff, and partners who made this project possible.”
City Councilman Henry Knight recalled the commitment made to residents back in the 1970s, when the community was Pontiac Township, to pave all the roads utilizing additional funding support from the residents at that time.
“We have finally fulfilled that commitment,” Knight said. The Butler Road project transforms what was previously a gravel section into a smooth, modern, and durable roadway. The improvement provides better access for residents, businesses, and emergency services, while supporting ongoing economic development in the area.
In addition to celebrating the paving of Butler Road, City Officials unveiled a memorial street sign in honor of the late Glenn McIntosh, a longtime Vice President of Student Affairs at Oakland University, which is primarily located in Auburn Hills.
“Glenn’s leadership, kindness, and unwavering commitment to his family and the community he served shaped the lives of everyone who knew him in countless ways. Glenn’s impact on the community will be felt for generations to come,” said Tom Tanghe, City Manager.
