493 Tires Collected from Holly, Groveland and Rose Twps for Recycling, Next Date Oct 4
On Sept 6 a trio of northern Oakland County townships teamed up for a tire collection event. The event aimed to provide residents with an environmentally responsible disposal option for unwanted tires. Tires came from Holly, Groveland, and Rose Townships.
Held at 4092 Grange Hall Road in Holly, the breakdown of tires collected per township was:
- Groveland Township: 303 tires (61% of total)
- Rose Township: 156 tires (32% of total)
- Holly Township: 34 tires (7% of total)
By working together, the communities helped prevent nearly 500 discarded tires from being improperly stored or disposed of, supporting both environmental health and community well-being.
The next tire collection event is scheduled for:
- Date: Saturday, October 4, 2025
- Time: 9:00 AM – 12:00 Noon
- Location: 4092 Grange Hall Road, Holly
Funding comes from a Scrap Tire Market Development Grant from Michigan’s Dept. of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE). Tires are given to approved recyclers where they are either retreaded or broken down for recycling. Tires must not have rims on them.
Collections take place the first Saturday of each month through the end of the year. Remaining dates are Oct 4, Nov 1, and Dec 6. Contact the Township Office in your community if you have questions.
