Oakland Thrive Restaurant Quest: Brody’s on Cass in Waterford
(Crystal A. Proxmire, Sept. 17, 2025)
Waterford, MI – Brody’s on Cass is a cozy little diner tucked away in a neighborhood, with big comfy booths, a friendly waitress, and lots of regular guests.
Among those regular guests is, well, me. It’s a great place to start the day with affordable breakfast options and that positive atmosphere. I’m partial to their dishes that feature fresh, delicious berries. The oatmeal is always cooked perfectly and you can add on toppings like berries, bananas, raisins, pecans, or walnuts. Plus it comes with creamy milk and meltingly delicious brown sugar.
I’ve also had their berry breakfast tacos and their stuffed french toast topped with strawberries. Their omelettes are also great, with the kind of hash browns that I like best – shredded with just a little bit of crispiness.

Omelette choices include Western, Corned Beef, Greek, Veggie, Country, Cheese and Brisket varieties. They come with hash browns and a choice of toast, biscuit, or fresh fruit. There are also classic dishes with eggs and meat, as well as homemade biscuits and gravy, corned beef hash dishes, and of course pancakes and waffles.
Brody’s also serves lunch.
I opted to try their Chicken BLT salad which was a huge salad topped with feta, tomato, avocado, red onion, bacon, and grilled chicken breast. I paired that with a side of amazingly crispy onion rings.
Other lunch choices include burgers, sandwiches, wraps, pitas, and hot dogs. Among the popular lunchtime items are the tuna salad sandwich, grilled chicken sandwich, Caesar wrap, and the gyro pita. The Cass Lake grilled cheese is a specialty made with brie, cheddar, and bacon served on their famous tomato swirl bread.
There are delicious appetizers as well, including Greek style fries, chicken tenders, and fried zucchini.
Brody’s, which is named after the owner’s son, is located at 1043 S. Cass Lake Road in Waterford Township. They do not have website, and as of the time of publishing you still have to phone in a carryout order. But in this case, it’s worth stopping in or making that call.
