Hazel Park Student and Mother Found Dead of Suspected Homicide

Hazel Park, MI – Hazel Park Police released information on a double homicide, stating “On Monday September 1st, 2025, at 4:15PM, Hazel Park Police Officers were dispatched to a residence for an unresponsive female. On arrival, Officers located a deceased adult female and a deceased male child within the home. Both victims had sustained injuries from apparent trauma. This investigation is being handled as a homicide and is still in the early stages. At time of this press release suspect information is still being developed and HPPD does not believe there is a danger to the community.”
The victims are a 41 year old female and a 12 year old male.
Hazel Park School Superintendent Amy Wilcox sent out a message to parents Monday evening, stating “We regret to inform you of another tragic incident that has occurred within our Hazel Park Schools community. Earlier on Monday, a student and his mother tragically lost their lives.
“The family is in our thoughts, prayers, and support during this incredibly difficult time. We will also have a mental health professional on-site if your child would like to meet with them. If you have any specific concerns regarding your student or how you should help your student at home, please call 248.648.2302. We will be sharing information on how our community can offer assistance to both families in the coming days.
“Please take a moment to hug your children and remind them how much they are loved. Encourage them to be especially compassionate and supportive of their classmates, as you never know what someone else is going through. Our school counselors and support staff are available to any student who may need someone to talk to, whether they are personally affected by these events or are struggling to process them.”
