15 Things to Love at Altered Designs in Downtown Holly

Holly, MI – When shopping for home decor, gifts, jewelry, accessories, art, and other delights, you could go to a store with mass-produced trinkets stocked on shelves and lined up in the rows of aisles. Or you could make a trip to Downtown Holly to Altered Designs, for a beautifully immersive experience.
At Altered Designs, dozens of local artists and manufactures come together in a space that takes a myriad of items and showcases them in a series of engaging settings. Visitors can see how individual pieces – such as pillows with names or hometowns on them – could fit into an overall scene.
Various corners of the space in this historic building have their own themes. Before reaching the back half of the store there’s an area for those who love country charm and all things equestrian. Around a corner is a place for the maize and blue, or green and white, college fans. Those who do their own decor and art may be enchanted by the high quality supplies available. And there’s even an area where gifts and decorations for pet-lovers can be found.
Items like jewelry, candles, and other gifts can also be found throughout Altered Designs. To go along with them is an assortment of handmade cards for any occasion created by participants of The Workplace Program of Michigan Neuropsycholocial Society, a nonprofit that employs people with disabilities.
Everything in the store is selected by the owner Holly Harrington-Herrick who combines her love of supporting local talent with an eye for decorating and a passion watching customers discover new things to love. Items change regularly, particularly with seasonal additions. Currently fall decor is making an appearance, with the warm tones of falling leaves, pumpkins, and cozy vintage flannel shirts getting customers ready for cooler days.
