Deceased Man Found in Pine Lake Identified, Police Seeking Clues to Death

West Bloomfield, MI – The body of a man found in Pine Lake nearly a month ago has been positively identified by Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Forensic Laboratory analysts.
The body of 30-year-old Alfonce Capone was discovered on July 29 floating in the lake. He was last seen alive at 11 p.m. on July 27 by his mother when he left the Southfield apartment they shared.
Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Unit (SIU), with the assistance of the Southfield Police Department, is handling the case, and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death. Autopsy results are pending as to the manner of death.
Personnel from the Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue Team and SIU were called to the 3200 block of Pine Lake Road shortly after 8:30 p.m. on July 29. Officers from West Bloomfield Township were at the scene, confirmed the man was deceased and requested assistance from the Sheriff’s Office. No identification was found with the body.
Friday’s mother filed a missing person report with the Southfield police on Aug. 13. Sheriff’s investigators learned of the report the next day and asked the mother for any of her son’s personal items for DNA testing. The mother said her son had taken all his personal items with him. Investigators ultimately located some items including a bottle of lotion, which was submitted to the forensic lab for testing. Friday’s identity was confirmed on Thursday.
