Oakland Thrive Restaurant Quest: Bad Benny’s Pour House in Highland Township
(Crystal A. Proxmire, Aug. 14, 2025)
Highland Township, MI- The quest to try every restaurant in Oakland County continues with a visit to Highland Township and a lunch at Bad Benny’s Pour House. Sitting in a nice big comfy booth in the sunshine of big windows, I had a lovely lunch of a Slim Jane sandwich, with tater tots and a half size Southern Pear Salad.
The sandwich had thin-sliced Dearborn ham, melted Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato, and Thousand Island dressing on a grilled hoagie bun. This pure comfort food was a delicious break in a busy day.
The Southern Pear Salad was an amazing mix of sweet flavors with grilled pear, candied pecans, goat cheese, dried cherry, red onion, and poppy seed dressing. I had the half size, which is served at lunch. So those getting a full-sized would be an even bigger treat.
Bad Benny’s also serves up pizza, including a beast of a pizza called Return of the Mac with American and Mozzarella cheese, burger, lettuce, pickle, onion, Thousand Island dressing and sesame seeds.
Entrees include St. Louis Ribs, Blackened Salmon, Alfredo, and Smashed Burgers. Among the other sandwich choices are the Benny’s Reuben, Chicken Caesar Wrap, and the California Turkey Club Roll Up. And for dessert guests can enjoy a mixed berry crepe, or Bad Benny’s balls, which are battered and fried brownie balls with chocolate syrup, powered sugar, vanilla ice cream and whipped cream.
In addition to the creative menu choices, Bad Benny’s Pour House is known for their drinks. I did not indulge, but there is a menu full of signature cocktails, many with a doggie theme. The Pup Cup Tini is made with vanilla vodka, frangelico, creme de cacao, chocolate liqueur and whipped cream. Bark & Bloom has Ketel One, St. Germain, and Lime Juice garnished with cucumber. And the Peach Paw-Loma has tequila, peach schnapps, grapefruit juice, and soda water.
They also have a nice selection of beer, wine, shots, and seltzers. The sports bar has many televisions and a spirit of revelry during big games, plus keep your eyes open for nights with live bands.
Bad Benny’s Pour House is located at 2825 E Highland Road Ste 133 in Highland Township. They do not have a website, but you can find them on Facebook.
