Primary Results Are In: Races Narrow in Pontiac and Southfield, Proposals All Pass

Oakland County, MI – The unofficial results are in for the Aug 5 primary in Oakland County, narrowing down races in Southfield and Pontiac, as well as featuring ballot proposals in Novi and Oakland Township.
The Public Safety Bond Proposal in Novi passed with 54.78% voting in favor and 45.22% voting no.
In Oakland Township there were two ballot proposals that both needed to pass in order to continue funding to be part of the Rochester Hills Library. The renewal millage passed with 77.68% and the millage proposal passed with 60.64% in favor, meaning that library access will continue.
In Southfield there was a primary for the Mayor’s race with current Mayor Ken Siver and challenger Sylvia Jordan moving on to the Nov. 4 election. Siver had 57.44% of the votes, and Jordan had 38.25%.
And in Pontiac’s Mayors race there were seven candidates on the ballot plus two write-in candidates, and the two moving forward are Mike McGuinness and Kermit Williams. McGuinness had 44.80% of the votes, and Williams had 25.08%.
The council at large position also had a primary, with Sennel Threlkeld and Adrian Austin moving on to the Nov. 4 election.
